Summer is almost officially here and you’re having a freak out because you haven’t started on your summer bod yet. No fear, you technically have until June 21st. I want to help you from having an oh sh*t moment in the target dressing room while bathing suit shopping. Staying motivated is so much more than the actual physical work, the clean eating, sweat, tears, and avoiding cupcakes at all the graduation’s coming up. Staying motivated is about having a healthy balance in all areas of your life. Mindset is the foundation of long-lasting motivation. Envision how good you are going to feel and look when you reach your goals, and be sure to write them down and read over them daily. Whenever my mind starts to drift into a negative space I will immediately put my gym clothes on and get ready to go. Already being ready is the first step to hitting the gym with ease, wearing a cute outfit never hurt anybody either. In all honesty if I am wearing something cute it gives me extra motivation to get through a set.
Never skip breakfast. If you’re naturally an early riser good for you but the majority of us aren’t and the reality of that usually means skipping breakfast. The key to getting through your day and workout is fueling your body properly. Eat an hour and a half before your workout, protein shakes are the easiest for me they literally take 30 seconds to make and there is nothing faster than that. If you find something quicker please inform us. Eggs, and steel cut oats are great options too. Stay far away from the box of donuts floating around your office and opt for a shake instead. Save it for your cheat meal and make sure to reward yourself with something naughty once a week. It’s all about the balance.
Love yourself. There is only one of you, instead of focusing on the fact that your stomach could be a little flatter what part of you do you love? Maybe you naturally have great legs, be thankful for them and feel empowered that they’re only going to look even better when you reach your goals! Tell yourself that you are fully capable and strong, because you are and you have the tools to be. Think of how badass you’re going to feel when you reach your goals. Even if that means working out for thirty minutes a day, you got this. Now get to work work work work work.
