HOW TO BE A MORNING PERSON

Mornings are rough morning person or not especially in the winter, waking up can be daunting. If I’m being honest, I’ve never been a morning person until I recentely realized all the shit I was missing out on. I along with the majority the population are guilty for being a repeat offender of hitting the snooze button. The hardest part about waking up is the first five minuets of waking, do I stay here and sleep in? Do I wake up?.. the choice is yours. I can promise you nothing unproductive ever came from waking up a little earlier, so stop laying in bed and go do things. Having a great morning is a direct reflection of having a great night, if you tell yourself tomorrow is going to suck it probably will.

Put your phone away. Set your phone away from your nightstand,  put that thing on airplane mode and set your alarms if needed. Keeping your phone away from you forces you to get up out of bed to turn it off. Motion creates energy, and the more active you are first thing in the morning the more energy you will have throughout the day.

Set intentions before bed. Going to bed with a negative mindset is a guaranteed way to wake up with low energy, set positive affirmations for the next morming rather than focusing on the lack-of sleep you may be getting.

Brush your teeth. Because you want your mouth to feel fresh before you do the next step…

Drink a full glass of water. Drinking water first thing in the morning wakes up your vital organs and replenishes your body from mild dehydration caused from sleeping. Get fancy and put a lemon, mint leaves or your favorite berries in your water to spice it up.

Read. Even spending 3-5 minutes reading in the morning is like an espresso shot to the brain, just do it. You’ll be surpised how quickly you can get through a book.

Meditate. When you set your intention right it’s amazing how your mood can shift. Meditation can be tricky at first, start for 5 minuets and increase the time as you get better!

Shower. I always shower even before going to the gym in the morning. Some may call that weird or excessive but for some people showering first thing can be energizing. Ps – use a citrus soap to feel extra energized, my favorite is DR. Bronners hemp citrus soap.

Incorporating a new habit always takes time, don’t expect this to be 100% effortless at first. Once you’ve mastered your new morning routine you can start to add more onto it. It’s amazing what you can accomplish with a few extra hours, go workout, make yourself an actual breakfast, respond to emails, floss your teeth! YOU GOT THIS.
